To celebrate the contribution made by the late Dick Munnelly to London Gaelic Games and and
for his contribution to Parnells Gaelic football Club, the second Dick Munnelly Memorial Cup
Tournament took place at the Parnells Home Ground of Northwick on Saturday July 12th 2003.
Teams participating were Taras who were the Cup holders of 2002, Neasden Gaels, St Kiernans,
and Parnells.
In bright sunshine, the day started with a challenge game between the Parnells Ladies and Parnells
U16s.
A good attendance to the event witnised an entertaining game as the chivalrous U-16s tried to play
a strong ladies side. The game finished with a draw and was followed by a presentation of medals
by the Munnelly family to the U-16s.

In the opening game of the tournament Parnells faced a strong Saint Kiernans side and were put
under a lot of strain for most of the game, a late goal from Saint Kiernans added to a sense of
siege among Parnells supporters. In the last few minutes however, Parnells rallied and gained the
advantage by putting away some quick points and winning by two points.

The Tournament Final was an exiting game as both Taras and Parnells each tried to gain
the upper hand.
Parnells got off to a good start, chalking up what looked like some easy scores.
Tara then regrouped and made good scores themselves as well as repairing their defences,
a move which prevented Parnells from adding to their early tally for most of the game.
A late surge by Parnells brought two urgently needed goals and points .
When Referee Liam Brennan brought the game to an end Parnells were the new holders
of the Dick Munnelly Trophy.
